We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Geologist to make a significant impact in evaluating geological data, assessing reservoir potential, driving exploration initiatives, and contributing to effective reservoir management strategies.

This position involves being seconded to our esteemed client’s offices in the UAE, offering a dynamic and collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Geological data analysis including well logs, core data, seismic data, and other relevant information to understand and interpret subsurface structures and formations. identify Play, lead and prospects and convert them to drillable locations.
  • Prospect evaluation including risk analysis and resource estimation.
  • Reservoir characterization by identifying and evaluating geological features, such as rock types, porosity, permeability, and fluid content at drilled wells.
  • 2D and 3D seismic interpretation.
  • Creating geological maps and 2D/3D models.
  • Providing geological support during well site operations, including real-time data interpretation, and advising on drilling decisions.
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geological insights into reservoir management strategies.
  • Overseeing core analysis to understand rock properties, reservoir architecture, and potential hydrocarbon content.
  • Conducting geological risk assessments to identify uncertainties and provide input for exploration and development decisions.
  • Planning and conducting geological surveys to gather additional data for reservoir characterization.
  • Client and stakeholder communication.
  • Providing training and mentorship to young Nationals and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Education: MSc or higher in Geology, Geoscience, or a related field.
  • Experience: 15+ years in geological exploration and mapping, with hands-on experience in field surveys, core analysis, and wellsite geology. Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Petrel is essential. Familiarity with RMS or similar tools is an advantage.
  • Regional Expertise: Strong experience with Middle Eastern carbonates is required, with Abu Dhabi reservoirs preferred.
  • Specialized Skills: Advanced skills in geological and geophysical interpretation, reservoir characterization, play analysis, and prospect evaluation.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications (e.g., AAPG or SEG) are advantageous.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of geological concepts, exploration techniques, and reservoir management in the oil and gas sector.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills to present findings to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Awareness: Knowledge of environmental regulations and regional compliance requirements.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork abilities in multidisciplinary settings.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to embrace new technologies and industry trends.

Duration

This is a project contract with a duration of 18 – 24 months.
