Subsurface and Technology Expert (P580)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Subsurface and Technology Expert to join our team of specialists at our client’s offices in the UAE.

The Subsurface Technology Expert will oversee the evaluation and advancement of technology processes within our client’s Study Centre. This role involves crafting and reviewing technology roadmaps, maturation plans, quality processes and mapping guidelines and best practices for various disciplines: geology, geophysics, reservoir and petroleum engineering, and digital technologies.

This position involves being seconded to our esteemed client’s offices in the UAE, offering a dynamic and collaborative work environment.

• Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) is highly desirable.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in subsurface disciplines, including geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, and petroleum engineering.
  • Proven expertise in technology evaluation, development, and implementation in oil and gas operations.
• Technical Skills:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of subsurface technologies and workflows, including seismic interpretation, reservoir modelling, simulation, and production optimization.
  • Familiarity with digital technologies, including AI/ML applications, data analytics, and cloud computing in subsurface workflows.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software such as Petrel, Eclipse, and OpenWorks.
• Strategic Planning and Innovation:
  • Experience in developing technology roadmaps, maturation plans, and strategies to address technical challenges and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and assess their feasibility and value to subsurface studies.
• Process Improvement:
  • Expertise in crafting and reviewing quality assurance and quality control processes for subsurface studies.
  • Ability to establish and standardize best practices across multiple subsurface disciplines.
• Communication and Leadership:
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills to guide multidisciplinary teams in implementing new technologies and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills for preparing reports, presentations, and guidelines, and engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
• Collaboration:
  • Experience working collaboratively with geoscientists, engineers, and IT professionals to drive innovation and efficiency in subsurface studies.
  • Ability to foster knowledge-sharing and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

This is a project contract with a duration of 18 – 24 months.
